A former member of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra for 25 years, Melanie currently plays with the Tucson Pops Orchestra, the Zenith String Quartet, and the Fan Violin Duo.
She has played throughout the world, performing at the Castle Festival in Heidelberg, Germany, busking on the bridges of Venice, Italy, and studying tango music in Buenos Aires, Argentina on a Fulbright Scholarship.
Melanie teaches a small studio of mostly adult students.
She lives with her husband and duo partner, Michael Fan, and their three cats—Bailey, Sophie, and Charlotte.
